The toll of the Padma Bridge under construction has not been finalized yet, said the Bridges Division of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges. This information has been given in a press release of the ministry in this regard on Tuesday.

 The notification further said that the recent propaganda on various social media about the toll rate of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has attracted the attention of the Bridges Department. The issue of setting toll rates is propaganda and rumors. The toll rate of Padma Multipurpose Bridge has not been finalized yet. However, a committee has been formed to determine the toll rate. Based on the recommendation of the committee, steps will be taken to determine the toll rate later. The people will be informed when the toll rate is fixed. The bridge department has appealed to the people not to be misled by such propaganda.


 The entire Padma bridge built with the country's own funds has become visible. The last 41st span was placed on the 12th and 13th pillars of the bridge at around 12 noon on December 10 and 6.15 km of the bridge is visible.

 According to the bridge department, the overall progress of the Padma bridge so far is more than 72 percent. The progress of the main bridge work is 91 percent. Financial progress is 7.36 percent. The contract price of the main bridge is 12,133.39 crore rupees. So far 10 thousand 623.73 crore has been spent. The actual progress of river management work is 75.50 percent and the financial progress is 65.17 percent. The contract value of the river management work is Tk 8,606.61 crore and so far Tk 5,064.48 crore has been spent. Percentage of actual work progress of connecting road and service area.

 Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the construction of the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another company in the country, is working on river governance. Abdul Momen Limited of Bangladesh has constructed two connecting roads and infrastructure.
